An exercise in gesture from my sketchbook. Before work I was reading Freehand Figure Drawing for Illustrators and I did this quick sketch, trying to incorporate things I learned from the book.

Fellow artist Ellis Goodson came over today and I think Peaches likes Ellis. She’s pretty skittish normally, but has gotten where she wants to play with him.

Kaneda from my sketchbook. When I was in art school in the late ‘80s one of the instructors showed the class a untranslated copy of AKIRA. we couldn’t understand a word, but the images were so amazing it was burned into my brain and had a huge influence on me.

Process shots of a job. I thought the slums were more crowded, but after feedback I spaced the buildings out a little. Once a few more scenes are done I’ll ink them. This sort of job is quick for me and cheap for the customer. If you need something like this drop me a line scottdsackett@gmail.com and we’ll figure out if I can help you.
