Struttura Uomo lesson#9 Skeleton of the hip: The Femur. I was hoping to have more done after the Thanksgiving holiday but an ice storm knocked some trees down in my yard so I had to spend a few days cutting wood.

Oklahoma City had a pretty extensive ice storm this weekend and my trees took a lot of damage. After about six hours my brother in law, nephew, wife and I got most of the mess cleaned up, including my neighbors tree that fell in my drive. He didn’t ask if he could help, but he did close his blinds. I guess watching us clean up his tree was making him cold.

Two more lessons from ‘Struttura Uomo’ my Italian figure drawing book. To give you an idea of the detail this book goes into, I think there is 6 or 7 more lessons on the bones of the leg. I was looking on Amazon to send the link to a buddy and I noticed the book now costs about twice what I paid so I’m glad I got a copy when I did.

Last night I watched Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace and did these ink wash doodles in my sketchbook. On our Bond episode of Better Than Fiction, Barry Burris pointed out that Solace is really a third act of Casino and should be watched immediately after. That’s how I watched them last night and he’s right, but it makes for a 4 hour Bond film. It does set up some things in Spectre and makes it obvious that the Daniel Craig Bond films should be viewed as a complete narrative and separate from other Bond films.

Saw Spectre this weekend. Daniel Craig is an amazing Bond. I still like Connery, but Craig really sells the action and in reflection makes all the previous Bonds look a little soft.

Today I picked up one of those brushes with do you water the reservoir in them. I had seen a video where a guy used one to make pink drawings “bleed”. It gave them a nice wash look. I’ve been messing with it all night on some pen drawings in my sketchbook. I had bought a blue Hi-Tec C pen in NYC and the wash really brought out the blue.
