I’ve been listening to the audiobook version of #neuromancer read by #williamgibson. He does a great job, but it’s obvious he’s not a pro audiobook reader so his reading has a real character that I enjoyed. This listening has again reminded me how ‘normal’ the characters are and despite being sci-fi, the book has a real 70s vibe to me. Cyberpunk took a left turn into over the top cosplay aesthetic that is mostly missing from Neuromancer that makes its success and influence seem much more genuine.
