Today I have been doing lots of thumbnails for Robert Whitt’s Interdimensia. My school is ending soon, I’m finishing a couple of projects and I am getting writers inquiring about working on projects and pitches. If you have a comic you need an artist for please check out www.scottsackett.org and if you feel my art fits what you are doing please drop me a line and we can talk. My rates are reasonable and I can help you push your project to completion, be it a pitch or an entire book. If you don’t need an artist please feel free to share this post!

Thumbnails for my current project. I do 3 thumbnails for each page so this is only the first 2 pages. This is the most important step of drawing comics, the foundation of the page. That’s why I do three versions, it forces me to think about the page.

I did a TON of free sketches for Free Comic Book Day today and are the 10 I consider the best. I am always humbled at how long people are willing to wait in line for a free sketch and I am grateful for the fan and retailer support.

The book ‘O/Range’ by Koji Morimoto has a photo of a small cafe/bar. I’ve always though it was a cool space and so I did my version in my sketchbook.

I thought I would share this for any fellow comic book artists. I made this template from a date holder in an old calendar. The holes are the same proportions as a comic page and are two sizes of thumbnails and my ‘tough’ size. I can snap this in the rings of my sketchbook so it’s always with me and I can easily fill a page of my sketchbook with thumbnails or roughs using this.
