When I was a kid I was a huge Isaac Asimov fan. Probably mostly because the local public library had a lot of his books, but I also thought he was a great personality. I was an odd kid but I thought he was cool. Anyway, for about the last 6 months or so I’d been trying to find a good book to read, but nothing stuck. I remembered Asimov’s mystery Murder at the ABA, about a murder at the American Bookseller convention and it seems like a good book to fill the bill. I thought I had a copy, I remember seeing it on the shelf at the bookshop in my old hometown. But I wasn’t sure I had bought it. And I couldn’t find it on my shelves. I’ve been looking all over for a copy, including both recent trips to NYC, but came up empty. I listened to part of the audiobook on YouTube, but I really wanted to read it. Recently, there has been a shelf collapse in my studio and I’ve had to move stuff around. Once I pulled out the old shelf, there it was, my copy of Murder at the ABA. I’ve been reading it this week and I’m really enjoying it. It’s very ‘meta’ because there are some real authors mixed in with fictional characters. I wish Asimov was a little better at adding descriptive color, but he’s good at plot and character.
